Challenge

A local auction company, Gardner Galleries was witnessing an increase in sales of antiques and artwork to out-of-town customers. Many of which would not attend auctions, but instead bid by phone or hire a professional to bid on their behalf.

Solution

With the rise of online shopping, Gardner Galleries turned to us to develop an online auction system similar to eBay but an experience tailored to auction regulars.

Using Drupal we developed a robust e-commerce system that manages all aspects of online bidding, vetting of customers, and to promote their continued traditional auctions.

The system further synchronizes with a custom build point of sale auction system to manage billing and consignments.

Results

At first, Gardner Galleries experimented with 2 to 3 online auctions per month and sent out regular announcements to an email list of 2,400.

Today, Gardner Galleries have seen a steady increase in quality of items for sale and now hold upwards of 10 online auctions per month with a growing list of over 7,600 online bidders.
